The outgoing Caretaker Committee Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Enugu State, Barr. Ben Nwoye, on Tuesday, declared that the party had surmounted its internal divisions, stating that the leadership was handing over a united platform at the end of its tenure.
Nwoye made the declaration at the party’s state congress held at Okpara Square, noting that the caretaker committee’s journey, which began amid uncertainty and factional disagreements, was ending on a note of reconciliation and cohesion.
“Today, I can proudly say that we are handing over a united APC, as your leader,” he told delegates and party faithful.
He described the congress as the culmination of a process initiated months ago with the constitution of the caretaker committee, which, he said, was mandated to reconcile aggrieved members, rebuild trust and reposition the party for electoral contests.
According to him, the committee encountered splinter groups, grievances and competing interests but adopted inclusion and dialogue as instruments for rebuilding the party.

Nwoye stated that all factions had been harmonised into what he termed “one big indivisible broom,” adding that members who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party were fully integrated and assigned roles. He stressed that the unity achieved was the result of deliberate sacrifice and patience by stakeholders.
The former chairman attributed the reconciliation process to the leadership of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, describing him as “the rock on which APC stands very solid in Enugu today.” He said the governor’s guidance and support created the enabling environment for a seamless process.
He also acknowledged the contributions of key government officials and party stakeholders, including the Commissioner for Science and Innovation, Prince Lawrence Ezeh, for providing vehicles to facilitate the committee’s work; the 17 local government chairmen for mobilising members during the e-registration exercise; and the Chief of Staff to the Governor, Barr. Victor Udeh, and the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia.
Nwoye disclosed that over 6,000 executives had emerged from ward, local government, and district congresses across the state, describing the state congress as the “tip of the pyramid” that crowned months of structured political activities.
He expressed confidence that the renewed unity would translate into electoral victories in future polls, including the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Mbah, as well as success in other elective positions in the state.
As he bowed out of office, Nwoye thanked members of the caretaker committee for what he described as their commitment and dedication, urging the incoming executives to consolidate on the foundation of unity and remain focused on strengthening the APC in Enugu State.
