Brazilian teenager Rayan maintained his electric start to life in the Premier League as Bournemouth came from behind to defeat 10-man Everton at Hill Dickinson Stadium.

The 19-year-old, who joined the Cherries from Vasco da Gama last month in a £24.7 million deal, scored for the second match in a row to cancel out Iliman Ndiaye’s first-half penalty. Bournemouth then completed the turnaround less than four minutes later, with Amine Adli firing the visitors in front.

Everton started brightly and enjoyed the better of the opening half, taking the lead from the penalty spot after Rayan brought down Jarrad Branthwaite with a clumsy challenge. Ndiaye converted confidently to put the hosts ahead, but Everton failed to build on their advantage despite creating clear chances.

Thierno Barry should have doubled Everton’s lead on the half-hour mark when he fired wide from six yards, and early in the second half the striker came close again, only for a close-range effort to be blocked on the goal-line.

Bournemouth responded with ruthless efficiency. Rayan drew the visitors level with a header at the back post from Adrien Truffert’s cross, before Adli struck soon after, latching onto a James Hill header to finish a well-worked free-kick routine.

Everton’s afternoon then went from bad to worse during a disastrous eight-minute spell, which ended with defender Jake O’Brien being sent off for a professional foul on Adli.

The win extends Bournemouth’s unbeaten run to six Premier League matches, while Everton’s struggles at home continued, with the Toffees now winless in their last five league games at Hill Dickinson Stadium.
