Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State has relocated to its permanent secretariat in Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, following an alleged eviction from a rented office.

The relocation came after the landlord reportedly sealed off the rented secretariat located on Ikere-Ekiti Road, Ajilosun area of Ado-Ekiti, without a court order, while the party’s property remained inside.

The development compelled the party to move its operations to its long-owned permanent secretariat in the same Ajilosun axis, despite the secretariat not being fully completed, with sections of the facility still undergoing finishing work.

Speaking with reporters in Ado Ekiti, PDP state Chairman, Tunji Odeyemi, said the landlord of the rented office, whom he accused of supporting All Progressives Congress (APC), locked the premises while the party belongings were still inside.

Odeyemi, who described the action as sad and improper, said PDP had moved to its permanent office following the forceful eviction.

The former acting governor assured residents that the party remained capable of governing the state again, expressing confidence that it would reclaim power in the June 20 governorship election.

“For long, this place has belonged to the PDP. The structure was built through contributions from party faithful across Nigeria, yet we kept paying rent elsewhere.

“We realised there was no reason to continue when we already have our own building,” he said, adding that the party will begin full mobilisation once its candidate is announced.

Director-General of Oluyede Campaign Team, Ogundipe Komolafe, described the occupation of the secretariat as a historic moment, alleging attempts by the current administration to constrain opposition activities in the state.

He said the new secretariat would serve as a rallying point for party members across the 16 councils, noting that grassroots mobilisation had already intensified ahead of the governorship election.

He noted PDP remained a dominant political force in Ekiti and advised members to ignore rumours and focus on winning the forthcoming governorship poll.

“This building belongs to us and we have taken possession of it. No other party has a permanent head office like this in the state,” he said.
