Former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adeolu Adeleke, has urged the incumbent Speaker, Rt. Hon. Debo Ogundoyin, to substantiate his claims of an alleged plot to impeach Governor Seyi Makinde, insisting that he should name those involved instead of circulating rumours.

Adeleke’s reaction followed allegations by Ogundoyin that he was approached with financial inducements and political support by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to facilitate the governor’s removal.

In his response, the former Speaker, who referenced his experience managing sensitive legislative and counter-impeachment processes, also called for clarification on comments linking the Olubadan, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and former First Lady, Chief (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi, to the alleged plot.

A statement issued by Adeleke demanded that Ogundoyin disclose the identities of individuals who allegedly attempted to bribe him, as well as those he reportedly met in Lagos in connection with the purported impeachment discussions.

He questioned inconsistencies in the Speaker’s public statements, noting a divergence between remarks made at a stakeholders’ meeting on Monday and a subsequent press release on Tuesday.

“The discrepancy between the Speaker’s words at yesterday’s stakeholders’ meeting and today’s press release is suspicious,” Adeleke said.

He further asked whether Ogundoyin was pressured into making allegations against Kabiyesi Ladoja or whether the claims were part of a calculated political strategy aimed at advancing future ambitions.

Adeleke warned that the credibility of the Speaker’s office could be undermined if the matter remains unresolved, urging Ogundoyin to provide full disclosure or risk historical judgment over silence.
