Fortunes of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) further depleted in Edo State yesterday, as top leaders of the party in Edo Central defected to All Progressives Congress (APC).

Among those that defected were Senator Clifford Ordia, Joe Edionwe, Sandra Ihenyen, among others.

They were received into the APC by Governor Monday Okpebholo at Eguare Public Field in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area.

Governor Okpebholo told the mammoth crowd that the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has unlocked resources now being channelled into developmental projects across the country.

He said President Tinubu believed in the future of the country.

“That is the money we are using to work all over Nigeria today. The president’s actions reflect a strong belief in Nigeria’s future and long-term prosperity.”

Okpebholo disclosed that he had convinced a critic of President Tinubu after taking him round ongoing projects in Edo State.

He said more independent observers, including Reuben Abati of Arise Television, would be invited to assess projects in the state.

The governor insisted that Edo State was ready to deliver 2.7 million votes for President Tinubu.

In Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government, Governor Okpebholo

fulfilled his promise to victims of the January crisis by officially handing over newly reconstructed police officers’ shops( POWA) that were razed during the unrest.

He presented cheques of N8million each to affected shop owners, to help them restart their businesses and rebuild their livelihoods.

He described burning of the market as the handiwork of “evil men” who targeted shops, billboards and private properties in a bid to disrupt peace in the community.

“But today, it is a changed story. The reconstruction of the shops marks a significant step toward restoring economic activities and normalcy in the area.”
