The young advocate of Igbo culture and community empowerment, Nze Odera Ezenwafor, has declared to vie for Idemili South Local Government chairmanship in Anambra State.
He is doing it on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and made his intention known during a ward meeting in his place.
The people of the area were in frenzy as they attested to his humility and a clear sense of purpose, describing his bid as a “call to serve” rather than a pursuit of power.

Drawing inspiration from global and national figures, Ezenwafor quoted former New Orleans mayor, Mitch Landrieu and ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo to advocate zoning rotation; a key issue in Anambra’s often contentious political landscape.
He highlighted the perceived neglect of Zone 1 in Idemili South and called for fairer representation to address longstanding imbalances.
His campaign manifesto with the theme: “Empowerment – Consolidation – Entertainment & Cultural Revival”, outlines priorities, including inclusive economic growth, strengthening local governance systems and leveraging culture to drive tourism, unity and youth engagement.
Ezenwafor’s entry signals a shift toward younger, community-rooted candidates, who blend traditional Igbo values with modern ideas, supporting Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s reforms, while pushing for localised solutions to unemployment, cultural preservation and equitable zoning.
