Adeleye Falade has assumed office as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG).
Falade took over the leadership of the liquefied natural gas company on Wednesday at its Corporate Head Office in Port Harcourt, succeeding Philip Mshelbila, who was recently appointed Secretary-General of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum.
The new NLNG boss brings nearly three decades of experience in the global oil and gas industry, with strong leadership exposure across the LNG and petroleum value chain.

His career within the Shell Group spans upstream and midstream operations across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Russia, and Africa.
Falade’s expertise covers gas and petroleum operations, production optimisation, engineering, operational excellence, business improvement, and change management.
He has also held several senior technical and leadership positions within Shell and its affiliates, managing complex operations and multicultural teams.
Before his appointment, Falade served as Managing Director of Brunei LNG Sendirian Berhad from April 2024, where he led strategic operations at one of the world’s established LNG producers.
Earlier in 2023, he was named Country Chair for Shell Namibia, overseeing the company’s operations and stakeholder engagement in the country.

He was Operations Manager at NLNG from July 2015 to May 2018, before moving to The Hague, Netherlands, as Regional Asset Management System Implementation Manager at Shell, where he led initiatives to improve operational efficiency across global assets.
Falade holds a degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from the University of Ibadan and an MBA from Henley Business School, United Kingdom.
He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a registered member of the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria. He is also a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers.
Falade assumes office at a critical time for NLNG and the global LNG market. The company recently secured long-term gas supply agreements with six third-party suppliers to strengthen feedgas supply to its Bonny Island operations.
This comes as the Train 7 expansion project nears completion, a development expected to boost NLNG’s production capacity and reinforce Nigeria’s position in the global LNG market.
His appointment also sustains NLNG’s fully Nigerian management team, underscoring the company’s commitment to indigenous leadership and local capacity development.
