The Nigerian Cancer Society (NCS) has petitioned security and law enforcement agencies over alleged false cancer claims and donation misconduct involving social media personality, Blessing Okoro, citing the need to uphold accountability and protect public trust in cancer advocacy.
The Society said the move was to ensure a thorough investigation, stressing that the allegations, if established, could undermine confidence in fundraising for genuine cancer patients.
In a statement on Friday, the National Director of Publicity, Bashir Mohammed Ranccas, said the petition was submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Department of State Services (DSS), and the Nigeria Police Force, including the EFCC zonal office in Wuse II, Abuja.

“Cancer remains a serious illness that requires sincerity, compassion, and responsible handling. Any form of exploitation undermines the credibility of genuine patients and discourages support for those truly in need,” the statement said.
The Society noted that its action followed public concern and its earlier condemnation of the alleged act as unethical and harmful to cancer advocacy.
It added that it remains committed to safeguarding the integrity of cancer advocacy in Nigeria and will continue to engage relevant authorities to ensure accountability, amid growing scrutiny of online fundraising activities.
