The Founder of the Centre for Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ) and newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Comrade Sheriff Mulade, has earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in International Relations from Delta State University, Abraka.

In a remarkable family achievement, his 24-year-old son, David Sheriff Mulade, also graduated with a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mass Communication from the same institution.

Both were honoured at the university’s 18th Convocation Ceremony for the 2024/2025 academic session held on Saturday.

Speaking after the ceremony, David, a practising journalist with GbaramatuVoice, expressed gratitude to his father for his mentorship and support.

“I am grateful to my father for his constant support and example. This achievement builds on the foundation he has laid and will further strengthen my career in journalism and media practice,” he said.

The dual academic feat has been widely described as a proud moment, reflecting a shared commitment to education, leadership and personal development.

Mulade is recognised for his contributions to environmental justice, peace advocacy and development in the Niger Delta, with stakeholders noting that his latest academic accomplishment further reinforces his dedication to intellectual growth and public service.
