The Graciella Initiative (TGI), a pan-African humanitarian and education-focused organization has launched the Female Literacy Project (FLP), a transformative initiative aimed at increasing literacy levels among women and girls across Africa.

TGI which is driven by a deep commitment to education and literacy as catalysts for sustainable development is founded by renowned African philanthropist and educator, Ms. Grace Anuforo.

Anuforo established the female literacy project in response to the persistent high illiteracy rates in Africa, particularly affecting girls and women who are at the receiving end of gender poverty.

”The Female Literacy Project is designed to provide accessible, community-based functional literacy, empowering girls in public primary schools and hard-to-reach communities with essential reading, writing, and numeracy skills.

”By focusing on female literacy, TGI seeks to address one of the root causes of extreme gendered poverty, inequality, and limited socio-economic participation across the continent,” she said.

She added that through strategic partnerships with governments, development agencies, educational institutions, and civil society organizations, the project aligns with key global frameworks, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs 4 and 5) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

The initiative envisions an Africa where every woman is educated, empowered, and equipped to contribute meaningfully to societal progress, giving the continent a renewed image defined by knowledge, inclusion, and opportunity.
