Africa's foremost hospitality and polo resort, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club, has announced its tournament calendar for the 2026 playing season, with fixtures spanning three continents namely Nigeria, the United Kingdom and Argentina.
According to a release made available to the media, the season gets under way next month with the prestigious Access Bank UNICEF Charity Shield, billed for the lawns of the Kangimi Resort in Kaduna from 30 May to 7 June .
The international polo tournament, which has for decades supported orphans and vulnerable children across northern Nigeria, offers three major prizes: the Charity Shield, the Access Bank Cup and the Usman Dantata Cup. Teams are expected to contribute entry fees ranging from ₦3.5 million to ₦5 million, with the entire proceeds benefiting the educational pursuits of the children.

Organised and hosted by Fifth Chukker at the Kangimi Resort since its inception in 2003, the tournament raises funds annually from sponsors, partners and members of the public in support of UNICEF campaigns for less privileged and vulnerable children in Kaduna State and its environs.
The European leg follows on 4 July, with the Access Bank Polo Day billed for the Guards Polo Club in the United Kingdom. The one-day event regularly draws top-ranking personalities and professionals from across the world.
From 27 October to 1 November, the Kangimi Resort will host the Emir of Zazzau African Patrons Cup, bringing together the finest Nigerian, African and foreign professional players. The week-long tournament, named in honour of His Royal Highness the Emir of Zaria, Ambassador Ahmed Nuhu Bamalli, in recognition of his support for the sport, also incorporates a Pink Polo component that runs an awareness campaign against breast cancer among women.
Fresh from that continental extravaganza, Fifth Chukker has announced a new addition to its calendar: the Women's Polo Tournament, scheduled from 4 to 8 November . This year it will be held as a standalone event after years of being staged alongside the African Patrons Cup.
The club will then travel to South America from 10 November to 15 December for the Argentina Polo Experience, before returning to Nigeria for back-to-back Christmas Friendly polo tournaments from 26 to 28 December.
In addition to its own calendar, Fifth Chukker polo teams compete in major local tournaments in Kaduna, Lagos, Kano, Jos and the Keffi Pony Tournament in Nasarawa State.
Established in 2001, Fifth Chukker Polo & Country Club offers the finest equestrian experience in West Africa. Set within 3,000 hectares of the Kangimi Resort on the banks of the Kangimi Dam in Kaduna State, the club continues to attract international spectators and is part of a broader lifestyle development that includes a planned signature golf course and horse racing facilities.
