...Binani condoles victims’ families

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has confirmed the killing of 29 people following an ആക്രമ on Guyaku community in Gombi Local Government Area.

The governor made the confirmation on Monday during an on-the-spot assessment of the affected community, where he commiserated with bereaved families.

The attack, reportedly carried out by suspected Boko Haram insurgents on the night of Sunday, April 26, created widespread panic, forcing many residents to flee over fears of further assaults.

A community leader, Aggrey Ali, who recounted the incident, said the assailants operated for several hours, killing dozens, burning places of worship, and destroying property.

Reacting to the development, Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani expressed deep condolences to the people of Gombi Local Government Area and the entire state.

In a statement, Binani described the incident as tragic and heartbreaking, noting that the grief is shared across Adamawa.

“This is a profoundly distressing moment for our people. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and pray for comfort for all those affected,” she said.

Gombi, Hong, Madagali, and Michika local government areas have remained among the most affected in Adamawa due to their proximity to the Sambisa Forest in neighbouring Borno State, a known stronghold of insurgents.
