Governor Ahmadu Fintiri has submitted three names to the Adamawa State House of Assembly for consideration for appointment as commissioners.
The governor forwarded the names to the Assembly on Tuesday, barely a day after the State Commissioner of Works & Energy Development, Adamu Atiku Abubakar, made his resignation public.
Adamu Atiku resigned his position after refusing to defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as most of his colleagues did with Fintiri.
The Commissioner nominees the Adamawa State House of Assembly received from Fintiri are Sali Idris (Maiha LGA), Muhammed Suleiman (Mubi North LGA), and Chubado Mohammed (Jada LGA).

The Speaker, Bathiya Wesley, directed the clerk to inform the nominees to appear with their curriculum vitae for screening by the Assembly on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Adamu Abubakar was one of three commissioners who rejected the idea of defecting to the APC; the other two were the Commissioner for Livestock Development and the Commissioner for Justice, Tijjani Maksha and Afraimu Jingi, respectively.
While Adamu Atiku has made his resignation public, the other two have not been known to have done so. However, the three names sent by Fintiri for consideration by the state House of Assembly suggest that the other two have also left the government or are presumed to have done so
