Zamfara Governor’s wife, Hajiya Huriyya Lawal, has inaugurated the 2026 Ramadan Food Programme to assist vulnerable households across the state
A statement by her Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communication, Hajiya Rabi Yusuf, on Wednesday in Gusau, said the programme was inaugurated at Shikafi town in Shikafi Local Government Area.
Yusuf said under the programme, 50,000 food packages would be distributed to 147 wards across the state, with each package containing essential items such as rice, beans, sugar, millet, maize, and cooking oil.

She explained that the initiative marked the third consecutive year of the governor’s wife’s humanitarian support, highlighting her commitment to alleviating hardship among vulnerable residents.
Lawal charged ward-level committees to ensure transparency, accountability, integrity, and fairness throughout the distribution process, while praising her husband, Dauda Lawal, for his compassionate leadership.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the vulnerable, stressing that the programme was part of ongoing efforts to uplift communities across the state.
