...Ojora family prays for Tinubu, First Lady during condolence visit

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu on Saturday paid a condolence visit to the family of late industrialist and Otunba of Lagos, Chief Adekunle Ojora, describing him as a devout Muslim whose life was defined by uncommon commitment to religious harmony in Nigeria.

The First Lady made the remarks during the visit to the Ojora family residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, where she was received by the daughter of the deceased, Dr. Toyin Saraki, and her husband, former Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki.

Speaking during the visit, Mrs Tinubu said the late Chief Ojora remained in the thoughts of both President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and herself, noting that the family bond between them was deep and enduring.

According to a statement issued by her Senior Special Assistant on Media, Busola Kukoyi, the First Lady said “you have always been in my mind and that of the president. We cannot forget him. He was always there with us as a family. This is also my family”.

The First Lady said Nigeria would miss the late elder statesman for his wisdom, support and the stabilising role he played in the country’s past.

“We will miss him, his wise counsel, support and great role he played in times past,” she added.

On behalf of President Tinubu and herself, the First Lady also offered words of comfort to the widow of the deceased, Erelu Ojuolape Ojora, whom she commended for standing firm as the matriarch of the family in the wake of the loss.

She described the late couple’s relationship as an inspiration to many Nigerians.

“Your relationship as a couple was an inspiration to many of us. We see you and him and many wish to have that sort of bond,” she said.

Mrs Tinubu recalled her personal encounters with the late Chief Ojora at church services, noting that despite being a devout Muslim, he consistently demonstrated respect for other faiths and embodied the spirit of national unity.

She said the family had much to be proud of, stressing that the late Otunba of Lagos distinguished himself not only as a successful industrialist but also as a promoter of religious harmony in both words and deeds.

Members of the Ojora family applauded the condolence visit, offering prayers for the success of President Tinubu and his wife.

Chief Ojora died on January 28, 2026 at the age of 93 and was buried according to Islamic rites.
