Five persons have lost their lives, with 20 others sustaining various degrees of injuries in a tragic road accident along the Lapai–Agaie road in Niger State.
The fatal crash, which occurred in the early hours of Monday at Nami village in Agaie Local Government Area, involved a trailer conveying about 600 bags of soybeans with several passengers travelling from Kano to Lagos.
According to eyewitness reports, the driver lost control of the vehicle as it veered off the road and crashed.

The Niger state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aishat Saidu, confirmed the incident, saying that the crash occurred at about 7:20 am and that it was a lone crash.
According to her, 27 males were involved, out of which 20 were injured, and five died on the spot.
Also confirming the incident, Mr. Umar of the Agaie Local Government Social Welfare Department disclosed that the injured victims were rushed to the General Hospital in Lapai, where they are currently receiving medical attention.
According to him, many survivors sustained serious injuries and cannot contact their families because most lack mobile phones or other means of communication.
