The initiative, aimed at supporting academic journeys while instilling values of love and compassion, underscored the foundation’s commitment to uplifting Nigeria’s future leaders.

The event kicked off  with a courtesy visit to the Palace of His Imperial Majesty Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo.

The WINCOF team led by Evang.  Abel Ogunniyi and Pastor Dawodu Moses A., representing the foundation’s Managing Director, Mr Temiloluwa Ogunniyi, and Dooshima Ogunniyi paid homage to the traditional ruler.

Discussions focused on community development and the role of compassion in societal progress.

The team visited two primary schools: ADS Primary School in Agunpopo, under the Atiba Local Government Area, and Methodist Primary School in Apaara, under the Oyo East Local Government Area. School bags and book dividers were distributed to excited pupils, many from underprivileged backgrounds. The items were met with cheers and expressions of gratitude from pupils, teachers, and parents alike.

Education officials were present to support and witness the distributions. Mr. Salawu Wasiu Adewale, Education Secretary of Atiba Local Government Universal Basic Education Authority (UBEA), attended at ADS Primary School, while Mrs. Funmilayo Adekunbi O., Education Secretary of Oyo East UBEA, was present at Methodist Primary School. Their attendance highlighted the collaborative spirit between the foundation and local education authorities in ensuring the initiative reached its intended beneficiaries.

During the distributions, Pastor Moses  delivered an inspiring address on behalf of  Ogunniyi, with Evang. Ogunniyi serving as his stand-in. The speech emphasised WINCOF’s roots in modest family values and its mission to plant seeds of compassion in the next generation.

A particularly resonant message was directed at the young audience: the rejection of the concept of “illegitimate” children.

“There is no such thing as an illegitimate child anywhere in the world, and particularly in Nigeria,” the representative declared. He reassured pupils that even children whose parents had not planned for them were intentionally placed on earth by God, and that WINCOF itself had been inspired to be a blessing to them “in a time like this.”

The address also urged children not to delay compassion until adulthood. “Do not say, ‘I will become compassionate when I grow up and have resources.’ Use the love and compassion you have now, and watch them grow stronger every day,” the speaker advised, drawing on the theme that love and compassion flourish through use.

School officials praised WINCOF for addressing both educational needs and emotional well-being in a single initiative.
