The Chairman, Board of Trustees of Freedom Foundation, Dr. Tony Rapu, has convened the organisation’s inaugural breakfast and board meeting for this year.

It brought  together board members and executive leadership to review progress and set strategic priorities for the year ahead.

The meeting, which marked the foundation’s first formal board engagement of the new year, provided a platform for in-depth discussions on the organisation’s vision, programmes and leadership direction as it prepares for another year of humanitarian service.

Key programmes under the foundation, Genesis House, House of Refuge, and Bethesda Child Support Agency, each presented their 2026 forecasts, outlining planned interventions, expected outcomes and areas of growth.

Board members actively engaged the presenters, asking critical questions and offering insights to ensure that the foundation’s work remains inclusive and aligned with its core mandate of leaving no one behind.

Discussions throughout the meeting reflected the foundation’s commitment to its thematic framework, with a strong emphasis on accountability, sustainability and impact-driven programming for vulnerable populations.

A major highlight of the meeting was the formal introduction of the new Executive Director, Mrs. Chidi ColdSweat, who presented her 30–60–90 day strategic plan to the board.

Her presentation detailed immediate priorities, short-term operational goals and medium-term strategies aimed at strengthening programme delivery, governance structures and stakeholder engagement.

Participants described the session as energising, noting a renewed sense of hope and enthusiasm about the foundation’s future.

The combination of strategic clarity, leadership transition and programme planning set a positive tone for the year ahead, with 2026 projected to be a defining year for the organisation.

The meeting concluded with closing remarks from the newly appointed Chairman of the Board, Mr. Ayokunle Ojo, who reaffirmed the board’s commitment to supporting the foundation’s leadership and advancing its mission of transformation and restoration.

Freedom Foundation continues to play a critical role in social intervention, offering shelter, rehabilitation and support services to some of Nigeria’s most vulnerable groups, and the outcomes of the meeting signal a strengthened resolve to expand its impact in the coming year.
