The Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies, Iragbiji (FUADSI), Osun State, has officially commenced academic activities with 28 departments, as no fewer than 1,540 students were matriculated into the institution.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Professor Mufutau Atayese, during the matriculation held at the temporary site on Wednesday, commended President Bola Tinubu and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, for their roles in the establishment of the university in Iragbiji.
He disclosed that the university took off with three faculties comprising 28 departments and admitted 1,540 students, a foundation set, adding that “226 staff, including Academic and non-teaching staff, to enhance service delivery.”
He announced that the varsity with 740 hectares received intervention projects from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND), and the groundbreaking ceremony will be held soon.
The VC advised matriculating students to be guided by discipline, integrity, resilience, and innovation to make their years count in the school.
He said, “To our development partners, industry leaders, we thank you for believing in our vision. The future of agricultural innovation depends on strong collaboration between academia and industry. Together, we shall build value chains, promote agribusiness, and foster research commercialization.”

Earlier, delivering his foundation lecture, former Acting Vice-Chancellor of Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Professor Ololade Enikuomehin, admonished the management to ensure that recruitment of staff is merit-based.
He charged the students not to be slaves to their phones and to eschew social vices, as he charged the host communities to see the students as their children in the formative stage, which should be correct in love.
