The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially recognised the faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The development was confirmed on Monday after the electoral body updated its official website to reflect the opposition party's leadership.

Abdulrahman Mohammed is listed as National Chairman, while Samuel Anyanwu was recognised as National Secretary, alongside other members of the party’s national leadership.

Both men emerged at the PDP National Convention held on Sunday night at the velodrome of the National Stadium in Abuja, where NWC members were returned through a consensus arrangement following the dissolution of the party’s National Caretaker Committee.
