The hospital stated that all actions by its management, under Chief Medical Director Professor Olusegun Ojo, adhere to established frameworks and best practices applicable to federal teaching hospitals nationwide.
The response follows a notice of withdrawal of services issued by the union over concerns regarding staff welfare and administrative practices. In a statement signed by the hospital’s Head of Public Relations, Tope Fayehun, and issued on Sunday, management reaffirmed its commitment to staff welfare, improved healthcare delivery, and ongoing reforms aimed at elevating the hospital to a leading federal tertiary health institution.

The statement emphasized that claims of forced transfers, department closures, unjust demotions, irregular appointments, and worker intimidation are unfounded. “The assertions are unfounded and do not reflect the transparent and collaborative processes in place,” it said, noting that other staff categories have acknowledged the ongoing reforms.
The hospital highlighted that prior to federal oversight, it faced operational challenges that affected efficiency and contributed to medical tourism among Ondo State residents. Its transition to a teaching hospital is intended to restructure and upgrade services to meet national tertiary healthcare standards.

With support from the Federal Ministry of Health, efforts are ongoing to improve infrastructure, strengthen oversight, and address organizational gaps. The management urged NUAHP members to suspend the planned industrial action and engage in constructive dialogue to resolve the issues.
"We remain open to constructive engagement and amicable resolution in the interest of sustaining progress and ensuring uninterrupted, compassionate care for our patients," the statement added.
It also called on stakeholders to assess its reforms, expressing confidence that collective efforts would position the institution among Nigeria’s leading teaching hospitals.
