Turkish giants Galatasaray has confirmed that star striker Victor Osimhen  has underwent  a successful surgery to repair a fractured right forearm.

The Nigerian international sustained the injury during the first half of Galatasaray’s 4-0 UEFA Champions League defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on March 18. Despite the fracture, which occurred during a mid-air collision with defender Ibrahima Konaté, Osimhen played through the remainder of the first half before being replaced by Noa Lang at the interval.

A club statement issued  yesterday verified that the procedure was performed by club doctor Op. Dr. Yener İnce at the Maslak Acıbadem Hospital in Istanbul.

While the club has not released an official return-to-play date, medical experts and the player himself have indicated a likely recovery period of four to six weeks. Speaking on a social media live stream over the weekend, Osimhen noted: "I need to have surgery to fix it because my arm is broken. It will take a maximum of five to six weeks... and I will be back to football."

Osimhen, who has netted 19 goals across all competitions this season, is expected to miss upcoming Süper Lig fixtures against Trabzonspor, Göztepe, Kocaelispor and Gençlerbirliği as well as a Turkish Cup quarter-final.

Club officials are reportedly optimistic that the 27-year-old will be fit for the Intercontinental Derby against rivals Fenerbahçe on April 26. Club sources suggest there is a "90% probability" he will be available for selection for that critical title-deciding match.

Following the procedure, Osimhen received visits at the hospital from Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek and head coach Okan Buruk.
