President of Turkish giants Galatasaray, Dursun Özbek, has strongly denied reports claiming the club is owing salaries to its players, including Nigerian international Victor Osimhen.

Speculation had surfaced in sections of the Turkish media suggesting that the Istanbul-based club had fallen behind on wage payments to members of the squad, raising concerns about the club’s financial stability.

However, Özbek dismissed the allegations as unfounded while speaking to Turkish outlet Habersarikirmizi, insisting that the club has remained fully compliant with all contractual obligations.

“If you make things up, you’ll create crises like this,” Özbek said. “Galatasaray is an elite club with world-class footballers. You cannot expect players of this level to perform without proper professionalism and organisation.”

The club president further stressed that players would not remain committed to the team if salaries were truly delayed.

“If players don’t receive their salaries for two or three months, they simply won’t play. Claims like these insult the professionalism of our players,” he added.

Özbek maintained that Galatasaray is up to date with all financial commitments, including bonuses and performance incentives.

“We have bonus and incentive clauses in our contracts and we honour them. Galatasaray has not defaulted on a single lira — not one lira overdue.”

The statement comes amid growing scrutiny around the financial management of clubs across the Turkish Süper Lig, where wage delays have historically affected several teams.
