GIG Mobility Nigeria at the weekend said it has transitioned from a traditional transport company into a full-scale global mobility ecosystem, unveiling an integrated platform designed to redefine travel and customer experience.
Chief Executive Officer, GIG Mobility Nigeria, Dr Enahoro Okhae, who spoke at the company’s 2026 GIGM Product Conference in Lagos, where it launched a unified digital platform combining multiple mobility services, said the move marks a major strategic shift for the company, driven by rising customer demand for seamless and comprehensive mobility solutions.
“We are no longer just a company that moves people from Lagos to Benin. We are now a global mobility organisation.
“What we have built is an ecosystem where everything around travel sits on one platform bus transport, airline tickets, vehicle hire, tours, and soon hotels and insurance,” he said.
He explained that the platform allows users to access a wide range of travel services in one place, eliminating fragmentation across the sector.
According to him, the transformation was inspired by consistent customer requests for broader mobility offerings beyond intercity bus services.
“It became difficult to keep telling people we are just a bus company. The demand was clear people wanted more, and we had to evolve,” he said.
He said: “HireX”, a newly introduced vehicle-hire marketplace, as one of the platform’s flagship innovations, enabling users to access premium vehicles on demand.
“You don’t need to own a luxury car to use one. You can hire for a few hours, depending on your needs. It’s about access, flexibility and service”.
He added that “PASS By GIGM” integrates airline bookings, visa services, curated tour packages and other travel solutions into a single interface, positioning the company within the broader travel and tourism value chain.
Okhae said that the company has achieved a long-term vision to build a fully integrated mobility ecosystem that connects people not just to destinations, but to experiences.
“We have moved from selling transportation to selling experiences,” he said.
On innovation, the CEO revealed that the company is advancing plans to deploy electric vehicles (EVs) for passenger transport, leveraging data from pilot projects conducted by its logistics arm.
According to him, the initiative will include the development of a nationwide charging infrastructure to support sustainable mobility.
“It is a big project. We are already engaging financial institutions and building a plan that spans across Nigeria,” he said.
Okhae also disclosed plans to strengthen partnerships within the tourism sector, including providing mobility support for tourism activities in Abeokuta, Ogun.
He reaffirmed that technology remains central to the company’s operations and growth strategy.
“At GIGM, we do nothing without technology. It is the foundation of everything we do and what keeps us ahead,” he said.
The GIG Mobility Product Conference, he added, will now be held annually as a platform to showcase innovations shaping the future of mobility.
Also, the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs Toke Benson-Awoyinka, who was represented by Dr Quadri Adebowale, underscored the importance of integrated mobility to tourism development and economic growth.
“Mobility is not just about moving from one point to another. It connects people to experiences business, culture, nightlife, food, fashion and enterprise,” she said.
She noted that fragmented and inefficient transport systems could hinder tourism and productivity, despite advances in technology.
“When movement becomes stressful or unpredictable, cities lose momentum especially in tourism,” she said.
Benson-Awoyinka added that the state government is promoting collaboration through initiatives such as the Ethno-Mobility framework to align policy with innovation and ensure inclusive mobility
“The future of mobility is integrated, and it requires collaboration between government, private sector and communities,” she said.
The conference marks the inaugural edition of the GIG Mobility Product Conference, which the company said would be held annually to showcase innovations in the mobility sector
