Living Faith Church founder Bishop David Oyedepo told members of his congregation to give kidnappers his phone number if abducted, stating that such encounters would result in their release.

Speaking during a sermon that later went viral, Oyedepo said his intervention in past kidnap incidents demonstrated spiritual authority over such situations.

He said congregants carry the same force if they discover it.

“If anybody picks you, give them my number. If he is not cut down, then I’m not sent. You carry the same force if you discover it”, he said.

He referenced the case of a church pastor who was abducted and later freed after speaking with the kidnappers during a ransom call.

Oyedepo said he warned the abductors to release the pastor within 24 hours or face death, adding that the situation changed immediately and the clergyman was released shortly after.

He said, “One time, one of our pastors was kidnapped. When they called, I said, ' Give me the phone and I told them, in 24 hours, if you don’t release him, you are dead”.

The bishop also cited an incident involving a female church member. He said she regained freedom after telling her captors she would be out by 7 a.m., and the kidnappers began attacking each other.

“One of our daughters was captured somewhere. She told them that ‘my father said I’m getting out of here, latest by 7 am’, and the kidnappers started cutting themselves”, he added.
