Jigawa Golden Stars FC has issued an urgent plea to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Appeals Committee, demanding a final verdict on their disputed match against Gombe United before the two sides meet again on the pitch.

In a press statement released in Dutse, the state capital, club spokesperson Comrade Ibrahim Isyaku emphasized that clarity and justice must precede any further fixtures between the teams.

The tension stems from a first-leg encounter on March 7, 2025, in Gombe. The match was abandoned following a disruptive incident, leading to a formal petition by the Golden Stars to the NFF Complaints Committee.

The initial ruling was a significant blow to Gombe United with a  N2.5 million fine levied against the Gombe-based club.

A neutral venue mandate to conclude the remaining minutes of the abandoned match.

Gombe United subsequently filed an appeal, leaving the result in a state of legal limbo.

With the return fixture looming, Isyaku expressed deep frustration over the silence from the Appeals Committee. He argued that playing the next game without resolving the first creates an unfair competitive environment.

"As things stand, we are calling on the NFF and match organizers to postpone the return match until the Appeals Committee delivers its final verdict," Isyaku stated.

Despite the off-field legal battle, the spokesperson maintained that the side remains undeterred in their seasonal goals even as Isyaku reaffirmed the commitment of the players and technical crew to the club's primary mission.

“Golden Stars are fully committed to securing promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) at the earliest opportunity,” he concluded.
