The Minister of State for Works, Muhammad Bello Goronyo, has said the Renewed Hope welfare and infrastructure initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu have positively impacted Nigerians across social and political divides.

Goronyo stated that the President’s leadership is people-centred and focused on expanding economic opportunities nationwide.

He spoke at the inauguration of the distribution of a N200 million Ramadan support package comprising assorted food items, clothing materials, provisions and cash to party stakeholders, religious leaders, security agencies and professional groups. The gesture, he said, aligns with Islamic teachings and is intended to ease the fasting period for beneficiaries.

Items distributed included bags of rice, millet and maize, as well as male and female clothing materials.

Highlighting infrastructure projects under the current administration, the minister cited the Sokoto–Badagry Highway and the Lagos–Calabar Coastal Highway as examples of critical projects designed to improve livelihoods and stimulate economic growth.

He urged Nigerians to reciprocate the administration’s efforts by supporting its policies, describing the All Progressives Congress as a resilient party with a development-focused agenda aimed at fostering growth and stability.

Goronyo explained that the Ramadan intervention forms part of his routine humanitarian support initiatives targeted at reducing hardship, particularly among vulnerable households in his constituency. He noted that fasting is a significant religious obligation in Islam and expressed hope that the support would enable beneficiaries to observe the exercise with less strain.

He added that the initiative reflects the mentorship and example of President Tinubu, Senator Aliyu Wamakko and Governor Ahmad Aliyu in prioritising citizen welfare. He pledged to sustain similar interventions.

According to him, the support will reach a broad segment of party loyalists, elders, youth and women groups, vigilante members, community volunteers, students and security personnel in Goronyo Local Government Area.

In his remarks, the Special Adviser to Governor Ahmad Aliyu on Economic Matters, Dr Bashir Achida, called on political office holders and affluent individuals to emulate the minister’s initiative, describing it as timely assistance that would improve living conditions.

The District Head of Shinaka, Alhaji Abdullahi Durumbu, speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, expressed appreciation for the gesture, noting that it would provide relief during Ramadan.

Other dignitaries at the event included the Chairman of Goronyo Local Government Area, Alhaji Zubairu Yari; APC Youth Leader, Malam Nasiru Italy; Goronyo LGA APC Chairman, Alhaji Sa’idu Muhammad; former Speaker of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, Alhaji Umar Shehu; and community leaders including Alhaji Aminu Boza, Faruku Ahmad and Alhaji Hussaini Umar-Gorau.
