Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising and advancing religious affairs as a key component of the state’s nine-point Smart Agenda.

The governor made the pledge at the second graduation ceremony of 259 students of Ma'ahadut Tahfeez Wad-Dirasatul Qur’aniyya, Hubbard, Sokoto, who successfully memorised all 60 chapters of the Holy Qur’an. He described the achievement as further proof that Sokoto continues to uphold its historic reputation as a centre of Islamic learning.

Aliyu, who attended the event as Special Guest of Honour, commended the founder of the institution and leader of the All Progressives Congress in the state, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, for his foresight and sustained support for religious education and activities.

The governor also announced that 53 teachers of the school would be enrolled on the state payroll, enabling them to receive regular salaries.

He noted that Senator Wamakko’s contributions have strengthened educational development, societal growth, and the promotion of moral values across the state.

"This will go a long way to boosting sustained stability, education, respect, and entrenchment of religious and moral values upon which Islam is built. I commend our leader and former governor for his passion for establishing the School", he stated while appealing to wealthy individuals to emulate the unequalled gestures of Senator Wamakko to Islam and humanity in general.

Speaking, the founder of the school and former governor, Senator Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, expressed excitement at the remarkable and rapid achievements recorded by the school.

The lawmaker explained that nothing was as rewarding and fulfilling to a Muslim as to invest in the course of Allah through extending support to the Islamic education of Muslims.

He acknowledged the efforts of the school management team, students, and others who sacrificed their time and resources to make the ceremony a huge success under the proprietorship of Sheikh Malam Bello Na Mallam Boyi, whose commitment and others placed the school at its current admirable position.

Meanwhile, the ceremony climaxed with the distribution of Kasea motorcycles to each of the graduands and cash donations of over N163 million raised and shared among the graduands, teachers, and management in categories, while allocating N10 million to support the running of the school.
