The group IgboArise for Tinubu/Shettima has dismissed as false and misleading, a social media report suggesting that Vice President Kashim Shettima ignored celebrity entertainer Cubana Chief Priest who was shown kneeling before him in a circulating video.

In a statement, the group described the report as mischievous, erroneous falsehood and a deliberate attempt to stoke ethnic sentiment. It said the Vice President had always related with the Igbo with genuine respect and affection.

According to the group, Shettima is a detribalised and patriotic Nigerian who accords honour to all citizens irrespective of ethnicity, religion or culture. It added that Cubana Chief Priest only knelt to pay customary respect to the nation’s number two citizen, noting that he is a well brought up Igbo who upholds cultural norms across Nigeria.

The group said the narrative being pushed online was hallucinatory and intended to mislead the public. It stressed that Shettima’s longstanding friendship and association with the Igbo community, including those he has mentored over the years, is proof of his goodwill and acceptance.

It added that one of the Vice President’s closest friends is a respected son of Imo State, a man Shettima has publicly acknowledged as having unrestricted access to his home.

IgboArise warned those it described as faceless detractors to desist from spreading inciting content capable of damaging reputations, heightening ethnic tension or worsening insecurity. It maintained that no amount of media blackmail could undermine the long standing goodwill between Shettima and the Igbo.

The group said it would continue to mobilise its structures in support of the Tinubu administration and the eventual re-election of the Tinubu Shettima ticket, which it noted is committed to improving national stability and shared prosperity.
