The Kogi East Political and Good Governance Group (KEPGGG) has endorsed Okutepa Usman Danladi for the Kogi East senatorial seat in the 2027 election.

The group announced the endorsement in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja.

KEPGGG said the decision followed consultations and an assessment of political realities in the district.

The group said the endorsement was informed by historical and contemporary political dynamics affecting Kogi East.

It noted that the district had consistently produced the governor of Kogi state until 2015, when power shifted to the central senatorial district.

KEPGGG said the region has since experienced a decline in political influence at the state level.

The group added that at the end of the tenure of Jibrin Isah, senator representing Kogi East, Dekina/Bassa federal constituency would have completed 18 years of representation in the Senate.

It said Ankpa federal constituency has completed eight years, while Idah federal constituency has yet to produce a senator.

KEPGGG said the situation underscores the need for equity and justice in the district.

The group described Danladi, Chief Executive Officer of DABAH Homes Limited, as a credible candidate.

It said his experience and grassroots appeal position him to deliver effective representation.

KEPGGG called on residents to resist what it described as the politics of surrogacy.

It urged political parties to prioritise competence and experience in selecting candidates.

The group said its endorsement is non-partisan and based on leadership qualities.

It added that the decision is aimed at promoting unity and development in Kogi East.
