Group strengthens 100 police personnel in drone intelligence

The Societal Concerns Organisation has commenced a forward-thinking initiative aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security framework through capacity building.

The initiative is coming up at a time when security challenges are rapidly evolving, the integration of technology into intelligence gathering and response strategies has become not just important, but essential. Rising to meet this demand.

The group is in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, and is focused on training over 100 security personnel in Drone Intelligence and Surveillance.

According to the founder of the group, Oluwapelumi Oluwayomi, this programme represents a significant step towards modernizing security operations and equipping officers with the tools needed to respond effectively to contemporary threats.

She said drone technology has increasingly become a game-changer in global security systems, offering enhanced situational awareness, real-time monitoring, and precision in intelligence gathering.

She said it was in recognition of  this needs that  Societal Concerns  designed a comprehensive training programme that blends theory with practical application.

She explained that participants will be exposed to drone operations, aerial reconnaissance techniques, intelligence analysis, and coordinated response strategies.

Beyond technical skills, Oluwayomi explained that the training also emphasizes the importance of professionalism, ethical conduct, and inter-agency collaboration—elements that are critical in building public trust and ensuring effective service delivery.

Oluwayomi said this initiative is more than just a training exercise, “it is a deliberate investment in national security and human capital development.”

She said her vision reflects a broader commitment to creating a society where safety is underpinned by knowledge, innovation, and collaboration.

“This partnership further highlights the value of synergy between civil society organizations and government institutions. By working closely with the Nigeria Police Force, Societal Concerns is not only supporting law enforcement but also contributing to a more resilient and intelligence-driven security architecture.

“As Nigeria continues to navigate complex security dynamics, initiatives like this serve as a reminder that sustainable solutions lie in embracing innovation, empowering personnel, and fostering partnerships that prioritize the collective good.

“Through this bold step, Societal Concerns once again demonstrates its unwavering dedication to advocacy, action, and the advancement of a safer society for all.”
