President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Musa Gusau, has congratulated FIFA President Gianni Infantino on his 10th  anniversary at the helm of world football, praising what he described as a decade of transformation in the global game.

In a goodwill message addressed to Infantino, Gusau, speaking on behalf of Nigerian football stakeholders, commended the Swiss-Italian administrator for his leadership since assuming office in 2016.

“My dear President Gianni Infantino, I want to use this opportunity on behalf of football stakeholders in Nigeria to congratulate you on your 10 years anniversary in charge of global football,” Gusau said.

He noted that the past decade under Infantino’s stewardship has brought significant changes to the football landscape worldwide.

“These 10 years have brought a lot of transformation into the football sector globally. We are therefore proud to be part of you and we are reassuring you that we will continue to be part of you because we know your ambition, we know your mission and we know you are going to do more, especially for Africa and Nigeria,” he added.

Gusau further assured the FIFA president of Nigeria’s continued support for his administration. “We want to assure you we are going to continue to support you and we are going to continue to be with you so that you continue to bring more transformation into global football. Happy 10 years anniversary, and we wish you long life and prosperity.”

Infantino, who became the ninth president of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) on 26 February 2016, succeeded Sepp Blatter. He has since been re-elected in 2019 and 2023, consolidating his leadership of the world football governing body.

During his tenure, Infantino has overseen major global tournaments, including the 2018 and 2022 FIFA World Cups, and introduced structural and commercial reforms within the organisation. He has also served as a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2020.

Gusau, elected as the 40th president of the NFF in 2022 following the federation’s 78th elective congress, is also a committee member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF). A former chairman of the Zamfara State Football Association, he has played key administrative roles within Nigerian and continental football.

The congratulatory message underscores the NFF’s alignment with FIFA’s current leadership as global football continues to evolve under Infantino’s presidency.
