The presidential ambition of Mohammed Hayatu-Deen gained momentum within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Tuesday following his endorsement by a key support group in Abuja.
The ADC Vanguard Support Group announced its backing at a gathering attended by over 500 party members, civil society representatives, and supporters from across the country, in what organisers described as a strong show of grassroots mobilisation ahead of the party’s primaries.
Hayatu-Deen, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) and ex-Managing Director of FSB International Bank, declared his ambition in April 2026.
Convener of the group, Comrade A.A. Abdulkadir, said the endorsement was based on the aspirant’s experience and track record.

“Mohammed Hayatu-Deen is the candidate this party needs. He brings over four decades of experience in building institutions and creating jobs, which is what Nigeria requires at this time,” he said.

Abdulkadir added that the ADC must prioritise credible leadership as it prepares for the 2027 elections, stressing that the country needs a “builder” capable of delivering tangible results.
The group described itself as an independent platform within the ADC, combining grassroots and digital mobilisation.
Responding, Hayatu-Deen said the endorsement strengthens his commitment to the party’s vision.
“The ADC offers Nigeria an opportunity to break from recycled leadership and chart a new course,” he said. “I remain committed to its mission and to delivering the change Nigerians seek.”
