The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government, Dr. Gift Worlu, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the public health programme and emphasised the need for collective responsibility in ensuring its success.

He described measles and rubella as highly infectious diseases that could spread rapidly within communities, noting that rubella in expectant mothers could lead to severe birth defects.

The council boss urged residents to cooperate with health workers and ensure all eligible children and young adults receive the vaccine.

The Executive Secretary of Rivers State Primary Health Care Management Board, Dr. Chituru Adele, described the event as a significant milestone in the state’s health sector.

He thanked God for the development of the vaccine and commended Rivers State Government for its commitment to the well-being of citizens.
