Heineken is intensifying its UEFA Champions League activations in Nigeria as the quarter-final second legs approach, building on the lively viewing experiences that defined the first-leg events in Port Harcourt and beyond.

Packed venues, big-screen action, live music, interactive "predict and win" games and ice-cold Heineken defined the first-leg atmosphere, delivering the vibrant mix of sport and entertainment that reflects the brand's global "Fans Have More Friends" campaign.

Now, with the decisive return legs set for Aba and Owerri, expectations are even higher.

Maria Shadeko, Portfolio Manager for Premium Beer at Nigerian Breweries Plc, said the brand is focused on delivering a stronger experience for the second leg.

"The energy we saw during the first-leg events was incredible," she said. "Fans didn't just come to watch football — they came to connect, celebrate and be part of something bigger. For the second leg, we are raising the tempo to deliver an even richer and more exciting experience."

Fans can look forward to more interactive games, bigger prizes, premium Heineken merchandise and a more engaging atmosphere designed to bring people closer to the action and to each other.

On the pitch, the quarter-final ties remain finely balanced. Ademola Lookman's Atlético Madrid produced one of the standout performances of the first leg, securing a 2–0 win over Barcelona at the No Camp. The result puts Atlético in control, though Barcelona are renowned for comebacks and the tie is far from settled.

Real Madrid face a stiff challenge after a 2–1 home defeat to Bayern Munich, who carry the advantage into the return leg in Germany. Liverpool are also under pressure following a 2–0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg, leaving them with a significant task at Anfield.

Arsenal, however, hold a slight edge after a late Kai Havertz goal earned them a 1–0 away win against Sporting CP. The Gunners will look to finish the job at home, while the Portuguese side remain hopeful of a turnaround.

For Nigerian fans, Lookman's form for Atlético has added an extra dimension to the knockout stage, with many backing him to help his side reach the semi-finals.

Shadeko said the tension on the pitch is matched by the energy off it.

"These are the moments fans look forward to — when every goal matters and every match can change everything," she said. "We want to make sure that wherever fans are watching, they enjoy it together in a way that feels special."

Heineken's multi-city campaign, which opened with the quarter-finals, will run through the semi-finals and culminate with the final on 31 May, with further activations planned in Lagos, Abuja and Benin City.

The premise is straightforward: football is better when shared. As the second-leg matches approach and the race for a semi-final place goes to the wire, Heineken is ensuring Nigerian fans have the best possible stage on which to experience every moment.
