Nigeria’s female-focused Fintech platform, Herconomy, is on a mission to create ten million financially independent African women.

This was the declaration of its founder, Ife Durosinmi-Etti, at the Seventh Herconomy Wealth Building Summit held at the MUSON Centre, Lagos.

Tagged: ‘The 2026 Wealth Building Summit, the event was held in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development and had about 1,000 women in attendance.

Keynote speakers at the event include the Lagos State Governor, Babajide-Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose-Medebem; founder Grandex Nigeria Limited and Ambassador to Austria, Dr. (Mrs.) Florence Ajimobi; Director-General, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN); Deputy Public Affairs Officer, US Consulate-General in Lagos; Amanda Roach Brown; Co-founder Noella foundation, Mrs. Layal Tinubu; Country Manager and Cluster Head, MasterCard, Dr. Mrs. Folashade Kemi Lawal.

Delivering her welcome/opening speech, Ife Durosinmi-Etti said, “Today is more than just an event. It is a gathering of visionaries, builders, dreamers and people who have decided that financial independence is not optional but essential….”

“At Herconomy, we’re a financial technology company built specifically to help people, especially women, both in knowledge and the confidence to make bold financial decisions. It is about creating a future where women are not just participants in the economy but leaders, investors and wealth creators.”

She steered a rounding ovation, when she said: “We are on a mission, a very audacious mission; we want ten million African women to be financially independent- not eventually, not some time in the future. We are working towards it every single day…”

She admitted that this mission requires patience, audacity and a lot of money, adding that, “When you choose Herconomy as your financial institution, when you invest with us, when you support us, and what we are building, we are not only growing your money, we are supporting one woman somewhere.”
