Technology solutions that address persistent judicial challenges, such as case management inefficiencies and procedural delays, must be homegrown.
This is the objective of the JusticeTechNG Hackathon and Accelerator, a reform-driven innovation programme aimed at developing practical, technology-enabled solutions to identifiable challenges in Nigeria’s justice delivery system, the organisers said.
An initiative of Office of the Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector Reform and ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology, in collaboration with Arravo, the Demo Day, marking the conclusion of the hackathon, will be held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Group Chief Executive Officer of Arravo, Dr Ayo Adegboye, said at a briefing in Lagos, yesterday, that JusticeTechNG was established to connect policy leadership with technologists, legal practitioners, judicial officers and justice sector institutions, with a focus on creating solutions grounded in the operational realities of the justice system.
He said the programme targets persistent issues as case management inefficiencies, procedural delays, gaps in record administration and constraints in access to justice.

Adegboye added that Arravo, a technology solutions firm with expertise in digital infrastructure and enterprise transformation, supports the initiative through funding, coordination and implementation assistance.
At the Demo Day, teams from the hackathon and accelerator will present prototypes.
The solutions will be demonstrated before a panel comprising senior judicial officers, regulators, senior lawyers, investors and other justice sector stakeholders, followed by structured reviews and engagement sessions.

Prizes will be awarded at the end of the presentations, with the winner receiving N10 million, the first runner-up N7 million and the second runner-up N5 million.
Adegboye said the hackathon was designed to challenge processes in the justice system by exploring how technology could be adopted to improve justice delivery through local solutions.
“The hackathon will explore how we can adopt technology to boost justice delivery using local solutions, because the constitution and legal framework are peculiar,” he said.
He noted that the programme attracted applications from across the country, of which 10 teams were shortlisted and mentored in the incubation period.

“Three winners will emerge, but beyond the prizes, our real goal is to mentor the finalists and support them to build enterprise-grade versions of their applications that can be deployed within justice institutions,” he added.
Adegboye also said the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Prince Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), will chair the occasion.
The prize money, he noted, is intended to support further development, refinement and potential deployment of the solutions within justice sector institutions.
Special Assistant to the President on Justice Sector Reform and ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology, Mr Fernandez Marcus-Obiene, said the Demo Day was only the beginning of a longer reform journey.
“This demo is to introduce the ideas. It is just the beginning,” he said, adding that both the bar and the bench would be represented at the event.

Marcus-Obiene also disclosed that participants would earn continuing legal education points, underscoring the programme’s alignment with professional development within the legal sector.
JusticeTechNG operates through partnerships across the justice and innovation ecosystem, including law firms such as Perchstone & Graeys, technology companies, legal technology organisations and justice sector bodies.
Organisers said this collaborative approach ensures that emerging solutions are legally sound, technically viable and aligned with institutional realities.
The Demo Day will be held as a hybrid event, with media representatives, justice sector stakeholders, members of the legal profession and interested participants invited to attend.
“Further details and registration information are available at https://accelerator.justicetech.ng/register,” the organisers said.
