Grammy-winning singer Tems revealed how her music career profoundly changed her, helping her overcome hyper-independence and embrace vulnerability.

In a recent interview with Doose Of Society, Tems shared that before becoming a professional musician, she tended to push people away due to her independent nature.

However, making music, she said, has taught her to be more open and receptive to love.

Tems said, “Being an artist has changed my life. There are a lot of people who know me. It made me grow, I had to shed a lot of habits that were holding me back—one of those things was my hyper-independency and the thing I do where I push people away.”

She added, “I have now learned to embrace love, just be open, and be free to give love and be vulnerable without feeling odd.”

Tems launched her music career in 2018 with her debut single 'Mr Rebel', but her breakthrough came with Wizkid's 2020 hit 'Essence'.

She has since collaborated with global icons like Drake, Beyoncé, and Justin Bieber, winning two Grammys and becoming the first Nigerian artist to surpass 40 million monthly streams on Spotify.
