Popular production manager in Nollywood, Sodiq Adebayo has recounted how his father, Adebayo Salami aka Oga Bello’s words challenged him to go into film production management.

In a recent interview with Nollywood on Radio, Adebayo recounted how a discussion with his father and an elderly colleague berthed his decision to pick up film production management.

In his words, “It all started one day many years ago on a trip to Ilorin with my father and late Alhaji Rasheed in the car and I just asked my dad which part of the crew do you find most challenging and he answered saying maybe directing that he doesn’t like the technical part of it.” Continuing, he said.

“He (Oga Bello) now said maybe production management but he said he assumed it was not something I could do. Alhaji now said why would he say that, that they would guide me. What my dad said was in my head because why would he assume I can’t do something. So I wanted to know what was inside the production management and wanted to do it so I met with Lasun Ray Eyiwunmi, I also understudied him. Then I met with my brother, Femi and asked him questions too then I started doing it. It was, first, passion and not about money.”

Sodiq Adebayo, who once tried his hands on acting said he is the shy type and had always wanted to be behind the screen and not in front as an actor despite being one of the sons of a famous actor.
