Victor Osimhen has never been shy about his scoring instincts, boasting he can score against any team — and on Sunday he backed his words with action, netting in Galatasaray's 3-0 derby rout of Fenerbahce despite playing through a fractured arm.

"As in every derby, I can score against any team. That's my job. I do it well," the Nigeria international said after returning to the starting line-up just four games after suffering a forearm fracture.

Osimhen wore a protective covering throughout the Istanbul derby and opened the scoring in the 40th  minute from close range, taking his tally for the campaign to 13 Super Lig goals. The result moved Galatasaray seven points clear of arch-rivals Fenerbahce at the top of the table.

The 27-year-old, who made his move from Napoli permanent in July, has been hampered by injuries throughout the season and managed just 20 league appearances. He credited the club's medical staff for his swift return.

"I thank Dr. Yener and the medical team. They did a great job. A full return is impossible, but they prepared me very well psychologically," he said.

Osimhen also reflected on the significance of the result following a recent cup disappointment, adding: "We fought well as a team. We disappointed our fans in the cup. I'm proud of my team's performance and happy about the victory."
