Media personality and actress Bisola Aiyeola has spoken about the emotional turmoil she experienced after discovering she would become a single mother.

In an interview, Aiyeola said she felt shock and a sense of shame at the time, noting that her concerns were compounded by her family history, as her own mother had also raised a child alone.

She explained that the situation made her worry about a recurring pattern and its potential impact on her daughter.

Aiyeola added that she had been engaged at the time and had hoped to marry before having a child, making the development particularly difficult to process.

“I was scared and ashamed of being pregnant and having a baby out of wedlock. I thought I was going to get married because I was engaged at that time, but we never got married.

“So it was so shameful because my mum was a single mum and I am about to become one, I feared my child might also have the same fate,” she recalled.

According to her, her family's economic struggles added to her distress, making it tough to accept her situation, especially when breastfeeding her newborn daughter.

The 40-year-old explained that with time, she began to accept her fate and cherish her daughter more, regardless of the circumstances surrounding her birth.
