The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Nwifuru, has dismissed reports of a rift between him and his predecessor, David Nweze Umahi, insisting that both leaders are working together.
He made this statement in a May 2, 2026, statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr Monday Uzor.
Nwifuru said that speculation of a disagreement between him and Umahi, now Minister of Works, was unfounded and aimed at creating division within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
He maintained that there is no rift between them, stressing that both leaders are united in their commitment to advancing the party in Ebonyi State.

The governor also appreciated APC stakeholders for their participation in the recent engagement meetings, noting that their contributions helped chart a way forward for the party.
He reaffirmed that the APC in Ebonyi remains “one indivisible family,” adding that all aspirants would be treated equally in line with agreements reached during the consultations.
According to him, any outstanding issues, including those relating to consensus candidacy, would be resolved amicably, and he pledged to meet with all aspirants.
Nwifuru further urged stakeholders, aspirants, and party faithful to close ranks and make the necessary sacrifices in the party's interest, emphasising that unity remains key to its continued success.
