An aspirant for president of National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Opeoluwa Awoyinfa, has explained why he wants to occupy the position.

He said one of the motives behind his aspiration is his commitment to ensuring every student’s voice is heard, valued and respected in the country.

Speaking with reporters, Awoyinfa said his mission is to empower students and foster a student-centric approach that prioritised their voices and needs in the educational landscape.

He said if he becomes NANS president, he will collaborate with Student Union Government presidents of tertiary institutions to address issues affecting students, such as school fee increments, accommodation and overall learning environment.

According to him, the partnership will also focus on advocating equitable education policies to ensure every student has access to quality education and resources.  He said: “We will create a unified front to tackle these challenges; ensuring students are heard, and involved in shaping future of their educational experience.

“As your NANS President, one of my missions will be centred on empowering stakeholders through initiatives that foster sustainable growth and development.

“I believe in creating opportunities that transcend the confines of our university years, ensuring the empowerment we advocate lasts a lifetime.

“I will be the voice for Nigerian students who feel marginalised and unheard, championing policies that uplift and support our collective interests, while opposing measures detrimental to our welfare.”
