In a recent podcast interview, Nkubi revealed that he turned to acting after facing difficulties securing jobs because of his size.
Nkubi explained that he became aware of his reality after secondary school, when he struggled to get minor jobs like his peers.

He stated, "As a child, you barely understood your reality, but you knew you were different from every regular person. When the reality of being a little person first hit me was when I finished secondary school, and I couldn’t secure minor jobs like others."
Nkubi's daughter is now facing similar stigma from internet trolls, who make derogatory comments about her size.
Despite preparing for this possibility, Nkubi and his wife said they are still hurt by the unprovoked bullying.
Nkubi's wife also shared a revelation, saying a doctor advised her to get pregnant by another man to avoid having a child with dwarfism, but she refused.
