A Justice of Peace, Mogaji Abayomi Gbadamosi, has declared that he will discharge his duties as one of the justices of peace in Oyo State without fear or favour.

Gbadamosi, who doubles as Mogaji Ile Onigba in the Idi Arere area of Ibadan, gave this assurance during his conferment as Justice of Peace.

Recall that the Oyo State Government on Thursday conferred the title of Justice of the Peace (JP) on 345 distinguished citizens.

The event was held at the Agodi government Secretariat in Ibadan.

The conferment ceremony, held at the House of Chiefs, Parliament Building, State Secretariat, Ibadan, drew top government officials, members of the judiciary, religious leaders, and dignitaries from across the State.

The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Barrister Adebayo Lawal, congratulated the 345 appointees and urged them to take the title seriously.

He warned against infringing on the scope of their responsibilities, noting that the conferment could be withdrawn if misused.

Gbadamosi, while speaking at the sidelines of the event, promised to discharge his duties in line with the provisions of the law.

The Onigba Descendants noted that they are proud of the Mogaji.

The extended family, in a congratulatory letter addressed to the Mogaji, described him as a good ambassador of the family.

The extended family said, "Mogaji Abayomi Gbadamosi, JP of Ile Onigba, Idi Arere, Ibadan. In the cool shade where market voices meet.  You stand with a steady palm, a measured beat. Keeper of oaths, where truth and mercy blend. A calm that mends what hurried hearts would rend.

"You wear the village’s trust like morning light. Turning small disputes into peace before nightfall. With a patient tongue and eyes that read the soul. You stitch the torn and make the broken wall.

"From the compound gate to the lane where children play. Your name is spoken softly in thanks each day. A pillar carved from duty, honour, and care. A justice shaped by service, plain and fair. May years grant wisdom deeper than your years. May every verdict dry a household’s tears. Ile Onigba sings your praise in a humble voice. Long live the peace you keep; long be your choice".
