The Chairman of Iba Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Jubril Yisa, has urged residents to keep their environment clean, stressing that sustained sanitation culture remains key to public health and flood prevention.

Yisa said the exercise should not be treated as a routine government directive but as a necessary discipline for everyday living, adding that environmental cleanliness directly affects the safety and wellbeing of households within the community.

He noted that blocked drainages and indiscriminate waste disposal remain major contributors to flooding, especially during the rainy season.

Yisa stressed the need for residents to be more deliberate in how they manage refuse in their surroundings.

The council boss appealed to youths in the area to take ownership of their environment by actively participating in the monthly exercise and encouraging others to comply with sanitation standards

According to him, the council remains committed to supporting the Lagos State Government’s environmental agenda aimed at building cleaner, safer and more resilient communities.
