Traditional stakeholders in Ibadanland, including Mogajis, Baales, monarchs, members of the Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI), market men and women, as well as indigenes of the ancient city, have commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Engr. Joseph Tegbe as Minister of Power.
They described the appointment as well deserved, expressing confidence that Tegbe would deliver effectively, citing his pedigree, professional track record, and public service experience.
In a statement, ICPI Coordinator, Mogaji Dr. Nurudeen Akinade, said the development gladdened traditional institutions in Ibadan, noting that Tegbe is also a Mogaji.
Akinade stated that the people of Ibadan see the appointment as recognition of the city’s contributions to national development and a call to greater service.
He added that Tegbe’s elevation reflects the President’s commitment to competence and inclusiveness.
According to him, the people of Ibadan would reciprocate the gesture at the appropriate time, stressing that the traditional leadership structure in the city is firmly behind Tegbe and ready to support him in his new role.
He, however, cautioned individuals and groups opposing the appointment to desist from actions capable of causing division, urging residents and indigenes to unite in the interest of Ibadanland’s development.
The stakeholders also prayed for a successful tenure, expressing optimism that Tegbe’s leadership would address challenges in the power sector, improve electricity supply, and fast-track key infrastructure projects nationwide.
