The governor said he received the painful news about the speaker’s death with a profound shock, deep sorrow, and heavy heart.

The Speaker died on Monday at a hospital in Cairo, Egypt, where he had been receiving treatment following a prolonged illness.

His death was officially confirmed by the Clerk of the House of Assembly, Alhaji Suleiman Shamaki.

In an emotion-laden condolence, Idris said he was devastated by Xuru’s passing.

He noted that the late Speaker was a man of honour, integrity, and uncommon loyalty while serving the state with distinction and he left behind a legacy of selfless public service.

Idris said his death is not only personal to the government and people of Kebbi State but also a painful blow to the House of Assembly, the political class, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working with him.

The governor prayed Allah to forgive his shortcomings, grant him Aljannatul Firdaus, and give his family, the Kebbi State House of Assembly, the people of Zuru Emirate, and the people of Kebbi state the strength and fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
