The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, has been commended for improved operational capacity and high morale of police officers across the country.

The commendation was made at the presentation of a book on Lagos Policing co-authored by Adebisi O. Adams and Shukurat T. Ibrahim, both cohorts of the PRNigeria Communications Fellowship.

The book titled “CP Jimoh: The Art of Policing Lagos”, was presented to CP Olohundare Jimoh on Monday evening to mark his first anniversary as Lagos State Commissioner of Police.

According to the authors, who presented the book during a press briefing by the police boss, the 203-page publication was developed from a research-based assessment of Nigeria’s security architecture following their fellowship training at the PRNigeria Centre in Ilorin.

They said Lagos was selected as a case study due to its security challenges and national significance, adding that their findings highlighted the IGP’s deployment strategy and his visits to police commands to support officers and improve performance as game changers.

According to the authors, the book was produced without interviews with senior police officere, adding that it relied on content analysis, public records, social media monitoring, and verified feedback to assess the performance of the Lagos Command under CP Jimoh.

Adams described the publication as an independent academic and professional project, acknowledging the mentorship support of Image Merchants Promotion Limited, publishers of PRNigeria.

In his remarks, CP Jimoh expressed appreciation for the recognition, attributing the command’s achievements to the guidance and support of the IGP. He also acknowledged the unwavering support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, which has made policing the state seamless.

Reflecting on his first year in office, the police boss highlighted key milestones, including intelligence-driven operations that dismantled criminal networks through proactive data gathering; strengthened interagency collaboration with sister security agencies, and enhanced community engagement through grassroots dialogue and transparency.

“Without the inspirational support and guidance of IGP Egbetokun, we could not have achieved this much. We remain committed to doing even more to safeguard the lives and property of all Lagosians," he said.

The book spans eight chapters and explores critical themes in contemporary policing, including strategic leadership, interagency collaboration, intelligence-led operations, personnel welfare, crisis communication, and community engagement.
