The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has pledged direct advocacy to resolve pension and gratuity concerns affecting retired officers.

He assured them of renewed engagement with the Federal Government on long-standing welfare issues.

Disu gave the assurance during a meeting with a delegation of retired police officers at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, Monday,  where he described pension and salary challenges as urgent matters requiring prompt attention.

He said his administration would pursue lasting solutions and urged retirees to remain patient as efforts continue through appropriate administrative channels.

The IGP announced that retirees could channel petitions through his office for onward presentation to the President in support of the proposed pension reform bill.

He also assured them of protection if they choose to embark on peaceful demonstrations to press their demands.

As part of broader welfare measures, Disu disclosed plans to work with relevant departments to improve employment opportunities for children of retired officers during future recruitment exercises.

He reaffirmed that the dignity and financial security of retired personnel remain a priority for the Nigeria Police Force, stressing that the institution remains committed to its officers even after retirement.
